Song for Winter

unnamed (6).jpg

“Song for Winter” was originally composed by Maggie O'Connor, who was part of the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp.

Isabel Mares, “resilient rose”, 2020

This song was recorded in a cave in Wales, pictured below, overlooking the sea, by members of one of our ReMembering cohorts, all of whom are based in the UK, many of whom live in Wales. These include: Gayano Shaw, Jerome Flynn, Emma Collins, Jason Stewart, Diane Lester, Clara Clay, Jude Butler and Lis O’Kelley.

Emma wrote of this experience: "Sitting in that cave, with the rocks singing back to us, which is an almost indescribable experience, the sense of timelessness was so deep and comforting. A long line of old ones holding our hands. How did we get so lucky!"
